Topic: New experimental build, and new modules

I just posted a new experimental LiteStep build over on http://www.lsdev.org. The new build, together with xTray-2.3 or nTray, should show and properly position all tray menus (except for the network icon under Windows 8 -- but that is a different story).

I also released a new version of my nModules family. They are written for Windows 8, but should also work on 7 and vista. Since they use Direct2D for rendering, they will never work on XP. The most interesting module, at this point, is probably nDesk; which will properly render the wallpaper in Windows 8 (it can also do fancy transition-animations). The documentation (currently here) is lacking a bit, so i'm posting my experimental theme for reference.

My experimental theme currently looks like this:

For those of you interested in running a 64bit version of LiteStep(this includes the author of this sentence), here is a 64bit version of the new experimental build. Note that 64bit builds and only load 64bit modules, and 32bit builds can only load 32bit modules. I posted 64bit versions of the nModules on google code.

Links to all modules can be found on lsp: http://lsp.litestep.info

Let me know if you run into any problems smile

Re: New experimental build, and new modules

Since there are only few 64bit modules around, I installed the 32bit litestep version and it worked right away! Many thanks for the development efforts. I'll try to test some of the other modules as well - at least those that fit with my theme.

The only problem I noted was that m,y CPU monitor, LSLM now exits with an error at LS startup (could not load module). Otherwise no error messages so far. I'm running win7 64bit.

Awesome! The first build since 2009! I'm ecstatic! :-)

Ooh, new build! big_smile I should convert my old theme to these n-modules and take it for a ride.

Re: New experimental build, and new modules

Thanks for posting this. Been a Litestep user since... I'd say late 90's.
Last few years I haven't been because I didn't feel like tweaking my theme to work with Windows 7.

My theme is complex_simpliticy. Google will bring it up.

Anyone recently go through the "update" process?
Is it torturous??

Re: New experimental build, and new modules

I've been running LS ever since it came out, essentially. No big tweaks (but some minor) necessary to run LS on win7.

Re: New experimental build, and new modules

This is so awesome! It works like a charm smile Building my step.rc from your experimental theme.

thanks for keeping LS alive alur.

Re: New experimental build, and new modules

Happy to hear that it is mostly working smoothly smile

brembs: LSLM most likely needs to be recompiled, but I can't seem to find the source code for it hmm

Re: New experimental build, and new modules

Great work alur. Was looking for a x64 build for a long time. Do we have xPopup and xPaintClass x64 compiled somewehre?

Re: New experimental build, and new modules

While I do have them, one of the major reasons that I started development of my nModules is because I couldn't really get the xModules to run with any form of stability in 64bit mode.

Nevertheless, if you want to try it, they are over here: http://alurcard2.net/litestep%20modules/64bit/
